This summer, we continue into our third year of getting lunches to food insecure students in the Springfield area of Fairfax County! Last summer, we handed out over 5,400 lunches at five sites. We hope to serve even more meals this summer!

Why run this program? The Fairfax County Public School System is the 10th largest in the United States. There are 188,000 students from pre-k through 12th grade. 56,400 (30%) of those students are on free/reduced lunch during the school year.

When summer arrives, many of these kids must figure out how they will eat their next meal. Our program hands out fresh lunches prepared by the Fairfax County Food and Nutrition Services at four Springfield sites.

We invite you to take a moment and read more about the Summer Lunch Bunch Program. Check out our process, see how you can volunteer, find out who is sponsoring the program, and much more.

Join us as we work to take a BIGGER bite out of child hunger in Springfield!
